New Year: Celebrated on January 1, New Year is most important amongst the public holidays in England. It is marked by great pomp and celebration. Most of the government departments, public offices and shops are closed on this day.
- Good Friday: Good Friday holiday is held on the Friday before Easter Sunday celebrations. Usually government offices are closed on Good Friday.
- Easter Monday: This holiday is on the Monday after Easter.
- Summer Bank Holiday: It is held on the last Monday in the month of August. All the banks in Great Britain remain closed on this day.
- Early May Bank Holiday: It is held on the first Monday in the month of May. Banks remain closed on this day and no financial transaction takes place on this holiday.
- Spring Bank Holiday: It is held on the last Monday in the month of May.
- Christmas Day: This is another very important public holiday in England. This holiday is marked by celebrations.
- Boxing Day: This holiday is held on 26 December.
