- William Blake (1757 – 1827): William Blake was a trained engraver living in London. He is also known as a poet. He belonged to the romanticism movement in printmaking. Although a student of Royal Academy Schools, he dropped out to pursue his creative career.
- Ben Nicholson (1894 – 1982): Ben Nicholson belongs to the abstract movement in painting. Both his parents were artists and being a student of Slade School for a short period, Ben Nicholson did not commit to his painting career before 1920.
- Francis Bacon (1909 – 1992): The paintings of Francis Bacon belong to the movement of School of London. He was born to English parents in Dublin. Francis was inspired by a Picasso painting to pursue a career as an artist. This happened when he was on a tour of Europe in 1924. He was also a soldier during the Second World War but before that he worked as a designer of furniture in London.
